PREMIUM AD PODS COME TO TELEMUNDO
One of the biggest takeaways for marketers is how Telemundo, like NBC, will be using a singular :60 commercial during the first 25 minutes of every hour.
What was not revealed is if Telemundo will be pricing this at a premium, compared to other spots. Media reports indicate that this will be the case with other networks.
Conde added that live spots are also in the mix; this can easily be done on Telemundo’s morning show, and across its sports programming and live events, including the recent Premios Billboard 2018 telecast.
TELEMUNDO PROGRAMMING
Telemundo and Universo President Luis Silberwasser offered a detailed look at some of the
programs poised to be big hits in the 2018-2019 season.
First and foremost is the return for a seventh season of “Super Series” (which is now
trademarked by Telemundo) El Señor de los Cielos.
The program is one of Telemundo’s most successful Super Series, and also on the slate for 2018-2019 is the fifth season of Super Series Señora Acero.
Telemundo hopes to have another Super Series success on its hands with El Barón Rojo.
Additionally, there’s much excitement at Telemundo surrounding the arrival of La Reina del Sur 2, starring Kate Del Castillo. Set eight years after the first highly successful series run, the story starts in Italy, with the protagonist suddenly dealing with the kidnapping of her daughter in Mexico—and confronting enemies from her past.
The return of La Reina isn’t the only return set to generate buzz. One of the most globally famous characters in telenovela history — “Betty La Fea” (or “Ugly Betty”) — is back. For Telemundo, it means the placement in the 8pm time slot of Betty In NY. Despite the title being in English, the program is being aired in Spanish. Casting is now being conducted for Betty In NY.
Also on the 2018-2019 schedule are:
To avoid falling into the hands of Mexican law, Aurelio Casillas has turned himself in to the U.S. authorities,
who have obtained his extradition. As he is about to be transferred to court and read his charges, his enemies
and rivals have prepared a surprise for him.
This is the story of Nacho Montero, a cultured, well-educated bon vivant with a penchant for adventure who
embarks on a quest to become one of the pioneers of drug trafficking in the eighties. In an act of rebellion
against his parents, he joins the most powerful cartel bosses of the time and floods the United States with
cocaine. Everything seems to be poised for Baron to conquer the world, but the excesses, violence and
illegality of Nacho's life make him finally lose everything he fought for.
