How much unique content does Discovery's Hispanic networks have compared to its English-language networks? Is differentiation important given the growth in English- language media consumption by Latinos?
Discovery U.S. Hispanic has an unfaltering commitment to invest time and resources in understanding our viewers and what they expect from our brands. This enables us to identify and curate programming with storylines, editorial angles and characters to deliver against the brand promise of providing content that is meaningful and relevant, with takeaways that impact the lives of our viewers.
The content mix on our two U.S. Hispanic networks is comprised of shows and series from across our global portfolio of networks along with several original specials and series. Our strategy has always been to curate a programming line-up to address our viewers’ interests as citizens of the world. While our linear offering is 100% in Spanish, we are expanding our digital content development to be in the language that makes the most sense.
What are the big new shows for each of the Discovery U.S. Hispanic networks?
Discovery en Español will debut exciting new series in its most popular genres, including Automotive, Sports, Adventure, Investigation, and Entrepreneurial.
Al estilo Alex Vega follows Miami-based custom car artist Alex Vega and his team as they create custom dream cars for rich and famous. Apadrinados features the stories of U.S. Hispanic-owned businesses as they strive to reach the next level of success. El Camerino offers viewers a new take on a game show where soccer fans and celebrities get to participate to win cash and the chance to win a trip to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. And, in an original special, we go on the hunt
for infamous Colombia drug lord Pablo Escobar’s hidden billions with Los millones de Escobar.
Discovery Familia will aim to bring viewers the best in food, family, fashion, and home this Upfront season. La diosa del pelo (Hair Goddess) profiles
Christina Oliva as she expands her Staten Island-based hair extension empire into the hyper competitive Manhattan salon environment. Amor a ciegas (Hear Me, Love Me, See Me) offers a surprising new twist on the dating show format, while No te lo Pongas: México brings the “What Not to Wear” makeover experience to Mexico. El sanador (The Healer) is a new documentary series chronicling the life and work of Charlie Goldsmith, a world-renowned energy healer from Melbourne, Australia.
