WHO’S WATCHING WHAT
There are many choices for the Hispanic television consumer.
However, Nielsen data suggest that broadcast TV networks continue to command the lion’s share of the Spanish-language television audience in the U.S.
Exclusive to the 2018 Hispanic TV Upfront Guide is fresh season-to-date ratings information reflecting the time period of Sept. 25, 2017-April 22, 2018.
As shown below, Univision and Telemundo over-the-air affiliates dominate in the total day ratings season-to-date. The data reflects adults aged 18-49, and in this central advertiser demographic Univision is the clear sun-up to sundown leader of Hispanic television, followed by Telemundo. Univision Communications’ UniMás is third.
From there, the competition is fiercely fighting for audience, with Estrella TV netting the same-sized audience as Discovery en Español. Galavisión, traditionally one of the most- watched Hispanics cable TV networks in the U.S., is slightly above Estrella and Discovery en Español. Universo trails those three networks by a hair. Azteca América, Fox Deportes and ESPN Deportes are not shown as they did not generate enough audience to make the reporting threshold for Nielsen, total day adults 18-49.
